Content Protection is the new word

Posted under Uncategorized by Admin on Friday 16 October 2009 at 11:40 pm

Yeah, antipiracy is now old school. The new word which the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) will use to run behind pirates is “content protection”.

The anti piracy content protection efforts so were have not been up to the mark. Even though the MPAA was successful in shutting down a few websites, the major ones are still at large and making a huge mockery of the MPAA.

Maybe this is the reason, about three of the top officials have been fired let go.

Some say that the whole approach of MPAA towards content piracy is wrong. Maybe they should first check the bootleggers on the street, and then the internet. Try and control the source of piracy. But, so far MPAA has managed to make everyone laugh with its futile efforts.

Whoever wins in this war of MPAA vs Internet Torrent websites, will be a much deserved candidate :D

Lets hope the new “content protection” mantra works for MPAA.

Olympics and Gadgets

Posted under Technology by Admin on Wednesday 14 October 2009 at 10:18 pm

In a very environmental and geeky move the olymics medal will now be made of recycled computer gadgets and other recycled material.

So, that cute bronze medal, might have been some part of your CPU. Most of these metals would be recovered from cathode ray tube, circuit boards, computer parts and other gadgets involving the process of smelting.

This move has been criticized by some who say that this reduces the value of the medals. But, generally, people either don’t care or are happy that environmentalism is now sinking into every part of our lives.

Well, whatever the case may be, I just hope the next Michael Phelps does not combine is gold medals and make an iphone! What a day would that be in the history of technology :D I can already imagine myself writing “Gold Medalist burns medals to create an iPhone”

Well, run on folks, and may you win the next tv set silver medal!

Tweetie 2 is out!

Posted under Technology by Admin on Sunday 11 October 2009 at 1:56 pm

Well, the version two of the very popular (really!) Tweetie iPhone application is now out. And you would be surprised at the increase in features.

Although it is a paid application, it is very cheap, just 3$. And for that amount, I would recommend even the Tweetie (Version 1) users to buy it.

Tweetie 2 has been completely re-written for the iPhone OS 3.0 and the speed is amazing when compared to the first version of the application.

You can integrate two accounts without a hassle, which is very convenient to those using twitter both for professional and personal uses.

But the real ace of this iPhone application is its “offline mode”. This mode allows users to tweet, read other tweets, follow and favorite even if there is no internet access. The changes are sent to twitter as soon as the iPhone gets access to the internet.

The final verdict is that if you are a power user of twitter then this application is a no-brainer. If you are a casual user, this application will make you a power user :P

So, Tweetie 2 is definately worth the little price it comes up with and would increase the number of tweets you send out by far.

See you on twitter :P

Photoshop on iPhone

Posted under Technology by Admin on Sunday 11 October 2009 at 2:52 am

This friday, Adobe launched an app for iphone which will let users edit their photos on a fly.  The best part is that this application is free of charge and is integrated to Photoshop.com This means that after editing a photo, you can just save it in your photoshop.com’s account.

Another notable feature of this application is that all the editing that you will do on this application will be with your hand gestures. Yes, no sliders and no dropdown. I guess this is the only mobile photo editing application with this feature. It also makes a lot of fine tuning easier to do.

Although it doesnt have all the features of the computer version (Duh!), it still has quite a lot, including the filters, which perform various uses.

Overall, this is a great application to use (again… its free, so give it a shot) for the quick editing on the fly. The only hiccup is that the photoshop.com’s free account has a limit of 2 GB, but this again can be extended with a purchase.

If you are even a little photo savvy, I would recommend you give this application a try and let us know how it worked out for you.
