Pool Heaters!

Posted under Technology by Admin on Saturday 28 August 2010 at 2:50 pm

If you like being in the water, then you know for a fact how important warm water is to you. Cold water just gives you that brittle feeling in your teeth and is as uncomfortable as ever. But warm water, its no wonder why people can stand for hours in a hot shower but can’t stand 20 minutes outside in the sun. Its a concept humanity has yet to understand. But warm water, especially in the pool, is very heavenly. Pool heaters are great to get and from the right company can give you much bliss.

Olympics and Gadgets

Posted under Technology by Admin on Wednesday 14 October 2009 at 10:18 pm

In a very environmental and geeky move the olymics medal will now be made of recycled computer gadgets and other recycled material.

So, that cute bronze medal, might have been some part of your CPU. Most of these metals would be recovered from cathode ray tube, circuit boards, computer parts and other gadgets involving the process of smelting.

This move has been criticized by some who say that this reduces the value of the medals. But, generally, people either don’t care or are happy that environmentalism is now sinking into every part of our lives.

Well, whatever the case may be, I just hope the next Michael Phelps does not combine is gold medals and make an iphone! What a day would that be in the history of technology :D I can already imagine myself writing “Gold Medalist burns medals to create an iPhone”

Well, run on folks, and may you win the next tv set silver medal!

Tweetie 2 is out!

Posted under Technology by Admin on Sunday 11 October 2009 at 1:56 pm

Well, the version two of the very popular (really!) Tweetie iPhone application is now out. And you would be surprised at the increase in features.

Although it is a paid application, it is very cheap, just 3$. And for that amount, I would recommend even the Tweetie (Version 1) users to buy it.

Tweetie 2 has been completely re-written for the iPhone OS 3.0 and the speed is amazing when compared to the first version of the application.

You can integrate two accounts without a hassle, which is very convenient to those using twitter both for professional and personal uses.

But the real ace of this iPhone application is its “offline mode”. This mode allows users to tweet, read other tweets, follow and favorite even if there is no internet access. The changes are sent to twitter as soon as the iPhone gets access to the internet.

The final verdict is that if you are a power user of twitter then this application is a no-brainer. If you are a casual user, this application will make you a power user :P

So, Tweetie 2 is definately worth the little price it comes up with and would increase the number of tweets you send out by far.

See you on twitter :P

Photoshop on iPhone

Posted under Technology by Admin on Sunday 11 October 2009 at 2:52 am

This friday, Adobe launched an app for iphone which will let users edit their photos on a fly.  The best part is that this application is free of charge and is integrated to Photoshop.com This means that after editing a photo, you can just save it in your photoshop.com’s account.

Another notable feature of this application is that all the editing that you will do on this application will be with your hand gestures. Yes, no sliders and no dropdown. I guess this is the only mobile photo editing application with this feature. It also makes a lot of fine tuning easier to do.

Although it doesnt have all the features of the computer version (Duh!), it still has quite a lot, including the filters, which perform various uses.

Overall, this is a great application to use (again… its free, so give it a shot) for the quick editing on the fly. The only hiccup is that the photoshop.com’s free account has a limit of 2 GB, but this again can be extended with a purchase.

If you are even a little photo savvy, I would recommend you give this application a try and let us know how it worked out for you.

3G Mobile Phones: What is the Deal?

Posted under Technology by xual on Sunday 27 September 2009 at 8:42 am

The 3rd Generation phones or the 3G phones are here to help you throughout the planet. They include the use of always-on data access, higher voice capacity, and high data speeds. The other higher end features are live, streaming video.

3G uses two different types of technology standards they are UMTS and CDMA. The technology in UMTS is based on WCDMA and it can be interchanged. The other one is CDMA2000 which is the latest version of CDMA 2G technology.

3G has many features like video streaming using GPRS or EDGE, the access is slow but it works. The other feature is the live video with which you can watch Cricket Matches. Video calling with an additional camera helps to talk with the other person face to face. There is facility to browse with faster downloads. It is also useful for those who want to do high speed browsing.

Some 3G mobiles have a shorter battery life. This hampers the high-speed data download functions, making it difficult for longer use. Check out the battery when buying a 3G mobile.

3G phones are for the present generation on the lookout for reliable, best technology

How Gprs Works?

Posted under Technology by xual on Thursday 24 September 2009 at 11:08 pm

If you are using any 2nd generation or any 3rd generation mobile phone service, you are most likely to have heard about the GPRS service. Now what is this GPRS? It stands for “General Packet Radio Service”. And as the name suggests, it is a service of transmission and sharing of data over the mobile phone services in the form of packets.
The best part of the GPRS technology against the traditional old-form circuit switching is that they are charged according to the amount of megabytes of data transferred in contrast with of the charging according to the amount of “on” time as followed by the circuit switching technology.
The “European Telecommunications Standard Institute” (ETSI) originally standardized the GPRS technology but now, it is taken over by the “3G Generation Partnership Project” (3GPP). It normally offers a moderate rate transfer of data through the using of the unused TDMA channels; TDMA stands for “time division multiple access”. It follows the GSM standards and was developed as a response to the earlier mobile communications technology like i-mode packet switching and CDPD, etc.
GPRS technology is one of the best packet switching data transferring technologies that has been developed in the recent times and it is one of the most popular of the mobile technologies of all time.
