In a very environmental and geeky move the olymics medal will now be made of recycled computer gadgets and other recycled material.

So, that cute bronze medal, might have been some part of your CPU. Most of these metals would be recovered from cathode ray tube, circuit boards, computer parts and other gadgets involving the process of smelting.

This move has been criticized by some who say that this reduces the value of the medals. But, generally, people either don’t care or are happy that environmentalism is now sinking into every part of our lives.

Well, whatever the case may be, I just hope the next Michael Phelps does not combine is gold medals and make an iphone! What a day would that be in the history of technology I can already imagine myself writing “Gold Medalist burns medals to create an iPhone”
